Pickleball team building: how custom paddles strengthen team spirit
Pickleball is in 2026 the most popular team building activity among Dutch companies. Why it works, and how custom paddles with a team logo double the effect.

More and more companies choose pickleball over the classic team building activities. No escape room, no climbing course, no bowling. But an afternoon or evening of pickleball at a club nearby, with the whole team. The reason is simple: pickleball is accessible, physical enough to break a sweat but not exhausting, and offers natural moments for conversation between matches.
What is mentioned less often, but makes a big difference: the tangible memory afterwards. A team that plays pickleball together and then parts ways with only the memory has a nice afternoon. A team that plays pickleball together and then all gets a custom paddle with a team logo, has something lasting. Why pickleball works so well for teams
Four reasons:
Pickleball is inclusive. Unlike football or tennis, beginners and advanced players can keep each other occupied well on the court. You do not have to be good to take part.
Pickleball is a doubles sport. You always play with two people per team. That forces colleagues into cooperation, which at team activities is exactly what you are looking for.
Pickleball lasts short enough. A match of an hour to an hour and a half is doable for everyone, even after a working day.
Pickleball lets you rotate in turns. You play with one colleague, then with another. So you come into contact with more people from your team than at a one-on-one activity.
The role of custom paddles in team building
An afternoon of pickleball is already valuable. But the question is: what stays with you afterwards?
Without custom paddles: memories, photos in the group app, stories over coffee. All valuable, but immaterial.
With custom paddles: each team member gets a paddle with a team logo or company logo plus their own name. It becomes their paddle. Even if they do not play pickleball regularly afterwards, they have something tangible that anchors the day for good.
Even more: it creates an internal sports community. Team members who otherwise would not play pickleball together, now do. “I still have my paddle in the car, in case anyone spontaneously wants to...”
What companies does this work for?
Extensive variant: companies with between 10 and 50 employees, where the pickleball afternoon is for everyone and everyone also gets a paddle.
Limited variant: companies with more employees (100+) where only departments or teams take part and only they get paddles.
Works especially well for:
- Scale-ups and growth companies where team culture is an asset.
- Creative and digital agencies where the staff are young and sporty.
- Professional services (lawyers, consultants, accountants) where you want to build collegial bonding in an often individualistic working environment.
Works less well for:
- Companies where pickleball does not fit the culture (very traditional, older employees who do no sport).
- One-off events without follow-up. Then the paddle becomes a dead investment.
What does pickleball team building with custom paddles cost?
The total cost consists of three components:
Court rental: count on €40 to €80 per hour per court at a pickleball club. For 10 people (2 courts, 2 hours): €160 to €320.
Supervision (optional): a pickleball coach for an hour of instruction or match supervision: €60 to €100.
Custom paddles: at 10 paddles €89 per unit, so €890 total. At 25 paddles €79 per unit, so €1975 total.
For a team of 10 people the total investment lies between €1000 and €1200 for a complete day plus a lasting gift. Compare with a traditional team day with a full-day program and closing dinner: often €150 to €300 per person, so €1500 to €3000 for 10 people, without a tangible memory.
How do you organize it?
Four or more weeks in advance:
Book the location
Book a pickleball club nearby (Pickleball United, PlayPadel, or local clubs). Ask whether they have a “team building package” with court plus coach plus catering.
Design the paddles
Design the paddles with a team logo or company logo. Upload your logo, choose colors, add text (for example “Team XYZ 2026” or “Anniversary edition”).
Request a quote
Via our business page request a quote with quantity, desired delivery date and any individual names.
Delivery beforehand
Two to three weeks beforehand: we deliver the paddles, you arrange the catering at the court.
On the day itself
Pickleball afternoon, closing dinner, ending with handing out the paddles as a surprise. Works well, really.
Tip for the ending
Make the paddle handout a moment. Not a practical “here is your paddle” but a small ritual. Short speech from the team manager, thanking for the season, handing out as a symbolic close.
If the paddles are handed out at the end of the afternoon after hours of playing pickleball together, the participants already have a positive association with the paddle in their heads. That strengthens the effect.
